Svada update

What’s up with the weather today anyway? First it’s snowstorm, then it’s sunny, and while I was walking from the gym it changes from sunny to snowstorm to snow and sun at once, and now it’s just sunny again.

Today Anders and I have been together for 2 1/2 years. We’re doing something tonight, but Anders is keeping it a secret as usual. I’m just supposed to be ready at 17.30 in a dress.

Happy birthday to me!

It’s my 25th birthday today, which is a bit weird since I still feel like I’m 19. Anders gave me 6(!) cd’s and a warm water bottle. He claims I’m getting one more gift on Saturday. The rest of my family tends to be kinda slow, so I’ll probably get more gifts eventually.

The day has been kinda boring though, I couldn’t sleep tonight because my back aches, so I had to go to the doctor this morning. I got drugs and a referral to a physiotherapist. When I came home and the drugs kicked in I of course fell asleep, and didn’t wake up until about 6 o’clock when Anders got a call from his mother. She has been subjected to a credit card fraud, and was understandably very upset. So we didn’t eat until 8, and now we have seen an Asterix film.

I will probably relax the rest of the evening.

Poker and update

On Wednesday we went to play poker again, and for the first time I won! I was really pleased with that, I found that having a small Jerry (from Tom & Jerry) figure with me really helped. See here for further details.

Today were going to a birthday party for Anne, so I have to go shopping for a gift. Tomorrow were going to Røros, and dad is 50 years next week, so I have to get a gift for him too. I have no idea what.

Halloween

It’s Halloween today, and even though I’m against celebrating it in Norway, it’s still an opportunity to use one of my Halloween icons. I actually do like parts of it, it’s a nice day for scary movies and candlelights. I just don’t like that the only reason we’re celebrating it is because the shops think it is a good idea. All if a sudden we have got to use a lot of money on costumes and candy for kids, and most of them haven’t even got a clue what the day is about. They don’t even bother to dress up, they just go around to people’s houses and beg for candy on a random day near the end of october. And it doesn’t work very well, because most people over the age of twenty doesn’t give a damn anyway, and haven’t got anything else than apples and oranges to give away.

Can’t kids go “julebukk” instead, which is a Norwegian tradition? It much nicer also, to earn candy by singing christmas songs, than to threaten people with “tricks”. Well, at least the kids should learn how Halloween should be celebrated if we absolutely have to do it.

Enough about that. I’m not doing that well lately, I guess it’s because winter is coming and it’s getting darker outside. I’m tired all the time, and I really have a hard time concentrating on my studies. Anders is really great about it, I’m just afraid I’m wearing him out. But I really need him now, so this weekend I made him go see a girl flick with me, “The Devil Wears Prada”. He pretended he didn’t like it, he was sighing loudly halfway through the film. But I could sense he liked it more and more, and he seemed quite thoughtful when we were going home. Maybe my taste in movies isn’t that bad after all? I will try to drag him to more movies, it is a great way to have fun, and stop worrying about everything for a while.

Fall

List over why fall is nice (inspired by LilSweetie):

1. You can sit on the sofa and drink tea and read or watch TV, without having to feel guilty for not being outside in the nice weather.

2. New beginnings, both at school and in life.

3. Everbody is back in town.

4. Stuff is happening.

5. Dicovering that after a great summer, it is actually nice with fall, and that changing seasons is a good thing.

But I still hope there is more warm, sunny days to come, like this one.

To live and learn
Tuesday August 08th 2006, 17:19

Sometimes I hear a song, and it reminds me of something. And I don’t know what. So then I listen to the song over and over again to try to understand what it is about that song. Today that song was Live and Learn by The Cardigans. And when I finally realised what the song reminded me of, it wasn’t really a good memory. Or that is, I didn’t mind what happened at the time, but it didn’t turn out well. Anyway, the lyrics was also a pretty good describer of what I felt.

I came home in the morning
And everything was gone
Oh what have I done
I dropped dead in the hallway
Cursing the dawn
Oh come on sun
Why must I burn
I’m just trying to learn

I stared into the light
To kill some of my pain
It was all in vain
Cause no senses remain
But an ache in my body
And regret on my mind
But I’ll be fine

Cause I live and I learn
Yes I live and I learn
If you live you will learn
I live and I learn

Got kicked in the head
So I started a fight
Cause I knew I was right
But I learned I was wrong
I remember a slaughter
I remember I fought
For the money I brought
I got blistered and burned
And lost what I earned

But I live and I learn
Yes I live and I learn

I got, I got it now
She’s got, She’s got it now

I came to on a corner
With some help from a man and goddamn
I don’t seem to have learnt
That a lady in need is guilty indeed
So I paid and got laid in return
And I don’t know what I’ve learned

Well you get what you give
And hell yes I lived
But if you live as you learn
I don’t think I’d be learned
Oh with the sun in my eyes
Surprise, I’m living a life
But I don’t seem to learn
No I don’t think I can learn

Not much has happened lately, we both have vacation, and we are relaxing at home. I got a new bike two days ago though! It’s the nicest bike I’ve ever had (even though it’s not pink). So I think Anders is going to make me go on a bicykle ride today. (When he wakes up.) Other than that we have been barbequeing a bit, had dinner with friends, and we had a party this weekend. But I had PMS and got totally sick of the whole thing.
